2018 North Atlantic Right Whale surveys

Summary

MICS conducted its annual fieldwork on baleen whales in the Jacques Cartier Passage and adjacent waters between June and September 2018. MICS observed a total of six individual right whales on six different dates, with a total of 13 sightings. All sighting occurred in the shipping zone, which, at the time, was the mandatory slow-down zone, between 64˚W and 65˚W. At least two whales were present for a duration of approximately two months.
