Josiane Riopel

Boat Captain and Team Member

During her bachelor degree in ecology at the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Josiane had the opportunity to do several internships. The first one, for which she was a park ranger and naturalist at the National Park on the Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé Island, showed her the beauties of the marine life. With a thrust to know more, she completed her second internship in the Cortez Sea, off Mexico. She was a research assistant on blue whales, and did her first behavioural observations and sample collections there. It is only once she was there, she heard about MICS, well-hidden on the North Shore of her birth province..! She did her third internship in the argentinian countryside before coming to MICS in the summer 2011 as an intern. Since, her love for the St. Lawrence et the authentik team that runs this small private, non-profit NGO that is the Station brings her back every summer (or almost...) to Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan as a team member and now a boat captain!
