Valentine Ribadeau-Dumas

Administration and Operations Manager

After graduating with a Master's degree in International Affairs and working as an auditor for a major financial company for two years, Valentine chose to change course and follow her true passion. She first came to MICS in 2004 as a visitor, decided to stay and ended up working for MICS for the next 5 years, using both her background in Business Administration and her knowledge of marine navigation. Over the years, she also took care of some of the logistics needed for our research and education operations.
She left the station in 2009 to run logistics for other scientific and exploratory expeditions around the world and contributed to several prestigious projects in the field in a variety of roles: as expedition logistics manager, crew member on sailing boats, cetacean research captain. This path led to working for several Arctic expeditions, running research programs and logistics for “Students On Ice”, “Deepsea Under the Pole”, “Catlin Arctic Survey” and even spent a whole winter in a sailing boat iced-in, in South Baffin Island.
She happily came back to work for the station in 2017 as the Administration and Operations Manager. Her desire to contribute to serious long-term research projects is immense because they help to understand the current changes in climate that the Arctic is currently facing, as well as protecting the marine biodiversity of the Oceans.
