Miranda Unger graduated from Acadia University, Canada, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a double major in German (2015). Afterwards she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Marine Mammal Science at St. Andrews University, Scotland. Her thesis on the survival and abundance of blue whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Canada, was written in collaboration with MICS. Miranda first joined MICS in 2014 to assist in marine mammal research. Her keen interest in marine life and ecosystems started during intertidal study project in Maine, U.S.A. Circumnavigating the North Atlantic Ocean on the tallship, SS Sørlandet, further allowed her to observe aquatic organisms in their natural environment.
